Travel Tips

Pandas, tea-houses, UNESCO-listed wonders of the world (dams from 256BC), ear-cleaning(!), temples, mountains and more… there’s lots to see in Chengdu!

We’re encouraging guests to arrive on Friday May 17 so we can help them travel from the airport (TFU) to the hotel near the venue. (The CA 424 departing London May 16 is a great choice, arriving 15.45 on Friday).

If your travel plans make arriving for this time tricky we recommend taking a taxi from the airport, it’ll take about 1h30 and we estimate CN¥250 ($50CAD).

Hotel Address in Chinese: 逸宸酒店(安德川菜产业园店),安平东路236号1栋1单元3楼
Hotel Address in English: Yichen Hotel, 3rd Floor, Unit 1, No. 236 Anping East Road, Pixian, Chengdu, Sichuan, China.

The hotel is directly opposite the wedding venue – it’s called “Hotel-Yichen“, it’s newly refurbished and 190CNY per room a night ($35CAD). We’ll be happy to help you secure your booking.

Please note we’ll be quite a long way from central Chengdu so if you’re planning to stay a while in the Sichuan area we’d recommend considering staying just for the weekend there (e.g. 17th, 18th and 19th).

On Monday (20th May) we’re planning to arrange mini-bus from Hotel-Yichen up to visit Mount Qingcheng and the Dujiangyan Irrigation System. We’ll give you a tour! From here you’re encouraged to consider staying the night and exploring further, and then central Chengdu is an easy high-speed rail ride from Dujiangyan station to Xipu.

Shopping in China

Many shops in China do not accept payment with credit cards. An alternative more convenient than cash (which is also not accepted everywhere!) is the “Alipay”, “TourCard” feature. We recommend you set this up the week before you arrive.
